When I picked wrong luggage at Airport

This is my experience of picking wrong luggage at Bangalore Airport (Looked exactly like mine including the extra red tape that i had tied to the luggage)...

When i flew to Bangalore, by mistake i picked up the wrong luggage which looked exactly like mine. In all the excitement of seeing my folks i didn't even notice.
I took it home. I noticed only next morning when i was not able to open the lock.
And the drama started.

STEP 1. Called the airlines office and informed them about luggage. They have no clue. They have no information. They said they would check with Airport (They claim only mode of communication between them and airport folks is email) and let me know.
I called 3 more times in next 4 hours, no use. so they asked me to take the bag and go to the airport and see staff at Arrival gate(there are counters outside the gate).

STEP 2. Took the bag and went to airport. Waited for 30 mins. Later the luggage handlers come out and say that i have to drop the bag to the owners address (They never tell this to you over phone. If they did, it would save a trip to Airport). They provided the address and phone number of the owners of the bag and asked me to deliver (See customer data is no value for them. they don't care about it).

STEP 3. I delivered the luggage to the address and got the complaint copy (the owner registered complaint as their luggage was missing) signed by them saying luggage received.

STEP 4. Came back to Airport, submitted the letter and got my bag (this time correct one) and went home.

After this experience, i double check the name on the luggage tag put by Airlines .. not believing the tapes anymore.

All the air travel luggage will have first/last names written on luggage tag attached by airlines.

Make sure you check that before you leave the Airport. For sure i will..

Until my next experience .. Bye
